The UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy will hold an open house for its Doctor of Pharmacy program at the school’s Asheville campus at the University of North Carolina at Asheville on Monday, March 20.

The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. in 011 Karpen Hall. Those who wish to attend the open house must register at http://Pharmacy.unc.edu/openhouse. There is no cost to participate.

Attendees can learn about careers in the pharmacy profession that can include bringing new health-care services to rural communities, working with an emergency-room team to save patients in a hospital, and seeking new treatments in cutting-edge research laboratories. They will learn about the professional and educational requirements for success, the admissions process and preparing a comprehensive application. They will also hear from the school’s faculty and students.

Speakers will include

  • Mollie Scott, regional associate dean, who will give an overview of the program;
  • Amanda Savage, clinical instructor, who will discuss what a pharmacist does; and
  • Mimi Lewis, assistant director of recruitment and admissions, who will talk about the application and admissions process.

Those attending will also get to talk current Doctor of Pharmacy candidates in small groups.

011 Karpen Hall is located on the ground level on the UNC Asheville campus and is accessible from parking lot P16.
